"Magabooking"
Introduction to canvassing with magabooks

Magabooks, simply defined, are "magazine books". With paper covers,
full color photos and illustrations, and some with larger print, they
make exellent gifts, books for the coffee table, and devotional
reading. Adult books include: Steps to Christ, Desire of Ages, Christ's Object Lessons, The Great Controversy, Ministry of Healing, and exerpts from Bible Readings for the Home (some titles are changed). Children's books contain excerpts from The Bible Story books, Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories,
and other character building stories for children. Health books range
from vegetarian cookbooks to informational books such as Health Power,
by Dr. Hans Diehl and Dr. Aileen Ludington. Magabooks have a retail
value ranging from $15-$25, but students can leave them on donation
basis from $10-$15 and higher.
"Big Booking"
Introduction to canvassing with hardback sets

Big books refer to the hard cover sets usually sold by fulltime
colporteurs. The books are made to withstand many years of use, have
full color illustrations, and larger print for easier reading. In a big
book program, students learn longer canvasses for The Bible Story set, the Bible Reference Library (12 volumes, including the Conflict of Ages series, and Bible Readings for the Home), My Bible Friends set, and Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories.
They spend their summer knocking on doors, introducing the books, doing
demonstrations inside homes (see picture above), and leaving magabooks
with those who can't afford the larger sets. It's more challenging than
magabooking, but you gain invaluable leadership experience and other
skills that are hard to learn otherwise.
